This October, fine art and football will team up in Manchester as I’ll be painting as the artist in residence at the brilliant National Football Museum.
I’m delighted to be working with the museum and helping to celebrate objects from their fabulous collection through the painting of a still life in oils.
Painting From Life
I recently met up with the team at the National Football Museum and together we curated an arrangement of objects that will feature in the piece.
While I wont give too much away here, as a football fan of a certain team in tangerine… I’m absolutely thrilled with the chosen objects which will be a dream come true to paint!
I’ll be painting from life in the public space of the museum and will be happy to chat to visitors.
Score Draw
The residency is just one of many activities at the museum which ties in with the Big Draw Festival, the world’s largest drawing festival which promotes the universal language of drawing as a tool for learning.
The theme for 2018 is “Play” which ties in perfectly with the beautiful game and I’m delighted to be involved.
Come and Say Hello
So if you want to come down and see the progress of the painting (and watch me sweat over what I’m trying to complete in just five days!) then you can find me at the National Football Museum in Cathedral Gardens, Manchester from 10am until 1pm and 2pm until 5pm from Monday 22nd through until Friday 26th October.
You can find out more about the residency over on the Big Draw and National Football Museum websites.
The National Football Museum boasts the world’s greatest football collection with over 140,000 items and exists to… look after football’s past, present and future.
