Painted from life in the Lancashire countryside in the Summer of 2018, the painting is part of my “Lancashire Plein Air” project which you can find out more about here.
The way the light fell on this tree really caught my eye and I was desperate to paint it. I spent a while trying to find a suitable position to paint it from but nowhere seemed to offer a clear enough view so I could include enough foreground. However I luckily realised that I could see the tree at the perfect height from the North window of my studio and so I painted plein air indoors!
If you would like to know more about this particular piece or organise a studio visit to see the painting in person then please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
