Painted from life in the Lancashire countryside in the Summer of 2018, the painting is part of my “Lancashire Plein Air” project which you can find out more about here.
The weather played a key role in the creation of this painting. It was another beautiful Summer day but the wind just wouldn’t go away! I put off painting until late in the day as I was worried the canvas panel could blow away and eventually I decided to paint from indoors. The painting features the view down my garden and I love the way the late afternoon sun illuminates the orchard through the fence.
