Plein Air

Exploring rural Lancashire through landscape painting en plein air

Lancashire en plein air is an on going project which documents the exploration of rural landscapes across Lancashire. Launched in the Summer of 2018, Gary plans to add to the project over the coming months as time (and weather!) permits.

The initial 8 paintings displayed here were all painted close to the artist’s studio, on location in and around Out Rawcliffe and along the banks of the River Wyre.

These first paintings were all painted in May and June 2018, which will no doubt go down as one of the best Summers the UK has seen in recent years.

Speaking about this first series of paintings in the project, Gary said:

“I’m lucky to have so much inspiration on the doorstep of my studio and it seemed a great way to start the project.

It was a joy to paint in the great outdoors in such stunning weather and I think the brilliant sunlight has helped give these first art works a real consistency.”

All of these original oil paintings can be purchased directly from the artist over in the new shop and if you have any queries about a particular painting in the collection then please don’t hesitate to contact Gary.
