My latest portfolio project ‘Identity’ is now available to view in a new ‘Projects’ section that I’ve added to my website. The project explores different symbols and cultures associated with modern day masculine identity.

Made up of three portraits, each one was painted entirely from life in my studio over the course of the past year.

You can see how I kept the composition and Chesterfield armchair consistent across the three paintings. All of the sittings were staged during the evening with carefully controlled artificial lighting to achieve an atmosphere within the works.

Identity

Each painting was planned to include a symbol of the sitter’s identity ranging from football and electronic music through to entreuprenurship as represented by an Apple MacBook.

Many of you will already be familiar with the football themed portrait entitled “Not a Penny More” which was selected for the 21st National Open Art Exhibition in London and went on to be voted in the Top 10 of the MS Amlin World Art Vote.

The painting was also exhibited in Blackpool’s Grundy Art Gallery for the Open 2018.

You can see a selection of images from the project below and you can find out more about the paintings and see lots more behind the scenes photos by visiting the project page.
